Cannabis Infused Flaxseed Oil Recipe

This cannabis infused Flaxseed Oil recipe offers a unique infusion option with amazing health benefits. Cannabis and flaxseed are known for their amazing health benefits, so why not take the best of both and create a CBD Flaxseed Oil blend. Below you will find our full spectrum CBD infused Flaxseed oil.  You can also use THC flower if you want to get high.

If you are looking for a CBD based oil recipe then use this recipe with a CBD only or dominate strain. Or use hemp flower.

Why CBD + Flaxseed Oil?

Why would you go through the effort of crafting this blend? Although hemp seed oil is highly nutritious, its intense nutty flavor can be off-putting and flaxseed oil is generally sweeter and milder in taste. It can be a more palatable way to get healthy fats into your diet. My favorite strain to make this with is Limon , a zippy and a sativa-dominant hybrid great to start the day.

Benefits of Flaxseed Oil

Flaxseed is extremely nutritious primarily for having a special balance of omega 3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids are essential to health and have been associated with benefits like reduced inflammation, improved heart health and protection for the brain against aging. Because of these benefits, many nutritionists recommend taking a tablespoon a day to get your daily recommended ALA (Alpha Linoleic Acid), and get the most out of it.

Because flaxseed oil is heat sensitive, we will make a blend. First, we infuse the cannabis with a heat tolerant oil, coconut oil works great. Once the CBD and/or THC has been extracted, we will strain the mixture and let it cool down before blending with the flaxseed oil. By using this method, you will avoid any heating of the flaxseed oil and retain all the healthy benefits!

This CBD flaxseed coconut blend is best enjoyed raw or as a finishing oil. You can have it directly as is, add it to smoothies, shakes, salad dressings, or drizzle over grilled vegetables. It can also be applied directly to skin and hair for it’s nurturing and moisturizing benefits and as a vehicle for delivering cbd or thc directly through the skin. For best results, keep in the fridge, or away from the sun in a cool, dry place.

Ingredients

  • 2.33 grams Ground Cannabis Flower

  • 3 tablespoons Coconut Oil

  • 5 tablespoons good quality cold pressed Flaxseed Oil

Instructions

  • Decarboxylate First things first, prep your cannabis using the decarboxylation method. This process will activate the THC and/or CBD that will be infused into the coconut oil. Preheat your oven to 220 F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread your cannabis over the parchment and cover with aluminum foil. Bake for 22-30 minutes, keeping an eye on it, as every oven is different. When finished it should be very aromatic, lightly toasted, but not burnt.
  • Infuse your butter with the flower. Add the bud and butter into a double boiler, a slow cooker, decarboxylator device, or your sous vide and infuse over low heat, or 85C/185F for 3 hours.
  • Strain over a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth. “NOTE: Use disposable kitchen gloves and flexible spatulas to handle this material. Handling this material with your bare hands can lead to an undesired experience as THC infused oil can be absorbed through skin.” (Chef Korby)
  • Blend once the infused Coconut Oil has cooled down, blend it with the flaxseed oil.
  • Store the finished infused oil blend in a mason jar. The potency of the oil will depend on your bud’s THC and CBD content. Test out with a teaspoon and dose accordingly for what is right for you.

Notes

  • Dose appropriately! When using your medicated oil in a recipe, remember to dose per person/serving.
