Kansas City Royals Partner With CBD Company – The Second MLB Team

Major League Baseball’s Kansas City Royals partner with CBD company Pure Spectrum CBD, becoming the second MLB team to partner with a CBD company.

The Royals’ partnership with Pure Spectrum, based in Evergreen, Colorado, will center on educating fans about CBD, its impact on health and wellness, and the human body’s endocannabinoid system, according to a news release. Pure Spectrum’s CBD oil 1250mg tincture also recently received NSF Certified for Sport designation, which is required by MLB. NSF is a global, independent auditor of consumer product safety and quality standards.

“The Kansas City Royals are proud to be just the second MLB team to form a partnership with a company like Pure Spectrum,” Sarah Tourville, executive vice president, chief commercial & community impact officer of the Kansas City Royals, said in the release. “For this organization, this opportunity gives us a chance to support a brand with Kansas City ties and to educate the community on the benefits of CBD.”

The partnership will include both in-stadium and community events, according to the release. As part of the agreement, the Royals opened a new Pure Spectrum Lodge on June 2 as part of its Outfield Experience at the team’s home Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City. The lodge will provide seating for fans as well as education about the positive effects of CBD.

In addition, Pure Spectrum also served as presenting partner of Yoga Day, hosted at Kauffman Stadium on June 4. The company will also serve as presenting partner of Ag Night on August 1, according to the release.

“As someone who grew up in Kansas City, this partnership with the Kansas City Royals is more than a ‘dream come true’ for me,” Pure Spectrum CEO Dan Huerter said. “To be able to work with such an iconic organization and to be a part of promoting health and wellness in my hometown community is an incredible honor. We are excited to make a positive impact in the community starting with the launch of this partnership as well as a sponsorship of last weekend’s Big Slick event. Our partnership with the Royals represents a monumental step forward for the entire industry and illustrates just how far we’ve come.”

The CBD partnership between the Royals and Pure Spectrum comes two months after the Chicago Cubs became the first MLB team to agree to a CBD partnership, when they teamed with Chicago-based MYND DRINKS in April.

The agreement also comes eight months after MLB became the first North American professional sports league to partner with a CBD company, having agreed to a multi-year partnership with Charlotte’s Web, a Denver-based manufacturer of hemp extract wellness products, in October 2022.

Pure Spectrum is a USDA-certified organic company, according to the release.
