Beefeater Distillery Information
Beefeater Distillery Description
Invented by James Burrough, a pharmacist, in 1873, Beefeater Gin became an instant success. Today, the Beefeater Distillery is home to Beefeater London Dry, Beefeater 24, Beefeater London Garden and Beefeater Burrough’s Reserve.
Situated in Kennington, South London, the distillery has been on the same site since 1958, after moving from Lambeth, which was home to Beefeater before that. The former pickle factory which Beefeater now calls home, offers daily distillery tours to the public, and houses the original Victorian pot stills where the Gin was made.
While the 1870s recipe for the original Beefeater London Dry Gin (which remains virtually unchanged), is a fairly typical London Dry Gin style, there is one thing which sets it apart; its lemon and Seville orange peels are steeped for 24 hours, to ensure that the full flavors of the fruits and other fresh botanicals are extracted.
