Why Are Weed Gummies So Popular?

Several factors make weed gummies popular. They’re small, so they’re great for beginners on the edibles scene because you can accurately dose them. Gummies work more quickly than other edibles since they dissolve in your mouth quickly, unlike chewing and swallowing a cookie or brownie. And they taste fantastic, of course, especially because you can choose the flavor and sweetness level when making them.

A classic among sweets, cannabis gummies are very well-liked by smokers worldwide. The adorable little gummies in the shapes of hearts, unicorns, or teddy bears (or whatever shape your heart desires) are a terrific way to consume marijuana. Plus, they’re ideal whether you use weed medicinally or recreationally.

Cannabis gummies have a few advantages over other sweets like weed brownies and toking up, which is why they’re still a favorite sweet for many cannabis enthusiasts.

1. Weed Gummies Taste Great

Most cannabis edibles taste pretty impressive these days, but cannabis gummies are of a higher order. Who doesn’t enjoy a fruit, sweet gummy bear, or Sour Patch Kid? (Just maybe stay away from sugar-free gummies because one too many of those and you might be incapacitated for a while — just another excellent reason why making your own weed gummies is the best way to go.)

These gummies have an appealing sweet and occasionally tangy flavor. Lots of people who eat edibles prefer weed gummies because the taste of marijuana is easily masked under the fruity, sugary flavors.

Some other edibles might taste more earthy, kind of like you’re eating a handful of pot. The fruit and sugar combo makes it easier to hide the marijuana flavor.

2. Weed Gummies Are Easier (and More Accurate) to Dose

Weed gummies are especially great for beginners because they’re easier to dose.

It’s difficult to gauge how much cannabis you ingest when eating edibles like brownies, chips, and cookies. They’re usually divided into portions so that you can accurately dose yourself, but it’s not the most reliable or accurate method of dosing marijuana, either.

Dosing becomes considerably easier and more precise with weed gummies. This is crucial for both medical cannabis patients and other marijuana users seeking particular benefits from their bud.

3. Weed Gummies Provide an Efficient High

The best way to absorb the nutritional components of cannabis and get high fast is via edibles. This is especially true with CBD gummies. One of the main advantages of cannabis gummies is that you can pop one in your mouth and let it gently dissolve on your tongue.

The gummy is then absorbed through the mucous membranes in the mouth, allowing the cannabinoids to enter the bloodstream without being processed in the gut first. When you consume other cannabis edibles, your body must first digest them. (This is why eating a magic brownie can kick in after anywhere from 30 minutes to three hours.) It can take a while for your body to absorb THC or CBD.

That’s not the case with a gummy, though. Weed gummies are more efficient, getting you high much faster.

4. You Can Store Weed Gummies Longer

When kept in storage, cannabis cookies and other edibles can soon go bad, just like your grandma’s Christmas cookies.

Storing gummies is way easier. When you store your gummies, the only thing that can happen is that they might begin sticking together, which has a simple fix. To prevent them
from sticking together, roll them in powdered sugar. (Oh no! We hate making things MORE delicious.)

Then put the gummies in a well-labeled container and stick it in your fridge, so your goodies stay fresh.

5. Weed Gummies Are Easy to DIY

We saved the best for last. Making your own weed gummies is reasonably simple. They won’t have any artificial colors, flavors, or other (possibly harmful) additions, unlike edibles you can get at cannabis dispensaries.

You can make them using natural substances that are widely available and that you probably already have in your kitchen. By creating your own batch of delectable cannabis candy, you can also save a ton of money. Here’s our yummy recipe for homemade weed gummies.

How to Prep for DIY Weed Gummies

  • Decarb your weed

  • Make a tincture

  • Follow the easy recipe

  • Dose properly

  • Enjoy!

2-Step Process to Begin Making Your Weed Gummies

1. Activate (Decarboxylate) Your Weed

You need to “activate” your marijuana before you can successfully DIY your gummies. This action is known as decarboxylation. Although it seems complicated, it really isn’t.

Fresh marijuana won’t make you high, so you need to activate it. If you want your weed to get you high, you have to transform THCA into THC first. This happens when weed is exposed to heat.

Decarbing your weed is unnecessary if you’re smoking it because the heat from firing it up activates the THC. But if you want to make edibles, you must first activate the THC via heat for a tincture that you can use to make this weed gummies recipe.

Here’s how to decarb your weed.

• Break buds into big pieces
• Wrap each piece in foil and place on baking sheet
• Bake weed for about 25 minutes at 250℉

Cannabis starts to decarboxylate at this temperature, turning the inactive THCA into THC. For more detailed instructions on decarbing weed, go here.

2. Make a Cannabis Tincture

After decarbing, it’s time to transform your weed into a tincture.

Put your freshly decarbed weed in a container with a lid and fill the container with high-proof, food-grade alcohol like Everclear. Alcohol extracts marijuana’s active ingredients.

Keep the jar in the dark for about a week to create a potent cannabis tincture. For better extraction, shake the jar every day.

If you’re impatient, you can speed up this process by frequently shaking the glass vigorously so that the alcohol can more effectively absorb the cannabis. However, give the extraction at least a few days to produce a powerful tincture.

After a few days or weeks, strain the tincture through cheesecloth to remove all plant material. Put your cannabis tincture in a bottle and put it in the refrigerator to keep it fresh.

Weed Gummies Recipe

Now that your cannabis tincture is ready, we can get to the fun part. Let’s make some weed gummies!

Ingredients

• 150g thawed or fresh fruit puree of your choice
• Sugar
• 80ml water
• 3 TB gelatin
• 1 TB lemon juice
• 2-3 tsp (10-15ml) cannabis tincture

Equipment

• Medium saucepan
• Dropper bottle
• Baking pan or silicone baking
• Measuring cups
• Whisk
• Cooking spray

Recipe

  1. Pour the fruit puree, water, and lemon juice into a pan over medium heat. Cook and
stir the mixture for a few minutes until smooth.
  2. Whisk 2-3 teaspoons of your homemade tincture into the mixture.
  3. Slowly add the gelatin to the mixture and keep whisking until smooth.
  4. Take your pan off the heat and pour the mixture into a baking pan or silicone molds
using a dropper bottle. (This is where you can get creative and decide what shape to
    make your weed gummies.)
  5. Place the tray in your fridge and let them cool for 15 minutes.
  6. Take your gummies out of the molds.
  7. Cut them into pieces now if you want smaller edible options.
  8.  Roll your cannabis gummies in powdered sugar to keep them from sticking together.
  9. Put the weed gummies in a container with a lid and keep them in a cool, dark place. Your fridge is a good idea to keep them fresh for a few weeks.

Tip: If sweet gummies aren’t your thing, go sour. Roll your gummies in some citric acid with a sprinkle of sugar for some homemade Sour Patch Kids edibles.

Dosing for Weed Gummies

Weed usually takes 30 minutes to an hour (or longer) to produce effects when taken as food. You can expect to feel the benefits of weed gummies much faster than that if you chew them gently and let them melt under your tongue.

Since each person is unique, what works for one person might not work for another. Start with one-half of a gummy and wait a while before evaluating the results. The effect of edibles typically lasts much longer than smoking marijuana.

Staying safe is the best approach to finding your ideal dose. Start slowly and pay attention to your body. Keep track of how many weed gummies you’ve consumed once you’ve established the ideal dosage. This can also help if you’ve had too many, allowing you to use a smaller amount the following time.

We hope you enjoy your delicious weed gummies!
